It’s a structured practice membership that combines small-group live conversations with fresh structured Russian activities throughout the week—so you keep learning new Russian while regularly using what you already know.
METRO Practice has no curriculum to complete. It's for learners who want to keep using and expanding their Russian through live conversations, contemporary content, and short weekly activities.
No. There is no curriculum to complete and nothing to “catch up” on. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday activities give you regular opportunities to read, listen, respond, and discover new Russian, but you participate as your schedule allows.
You'll receive an email with instructions for joining the METRO Practice Telegram community, where you'll find the current month's live-conversation schedule. You can start participating in the weekly activities right away and join your group's scheduled Sunday conversations.
- Each group meets on Zoom for 60 minutes, three Sundays each month, usually in the morning or noon (Eastern time).
- Each group has a maximum of 5 participants.
- The monthly live-conversation schedule is posted and pinned in the Telegram community on the 1st of each month.
- The schedule include the dates, times, topics, and discussion questions for each conversation.
- Conversations focus on everyday life, culture, current topics, experiences, and opinions—not textbook exercises.
- A Zoom link is posted in the Telegram community 10 minutes before each conversation.
- Angelina leads the conversation, keeps it moving, helps everyone participate, and shares language recommendations after the meeting.
Most Zoom discussions are held on Sunday mornings or noon (Eastern Time), which works well for most members. If that time doesn't work for you, we'll do our best to place you in a group that meets at a more convenient time.
That’s okay. There is no attendance requirement and you won’t “fall behind.” Continue participating in the Telegram activities and join your group again at the next live conversation. We do not reimburse you for your missed discussions though.
